Netflix‘s Bridgerton is one of the biggest shows of this decade, with a massive fan following. The show is far from over, but that has not stopped author Julia Quinn or producer Shonda Rhimes from thinking of new stories.

The novel will be based on Rhimes’ recently-announced spinoff series that tells the story of how Queen Charlotte rose to power. The character has played a prominent part in the series, and Golda Rosheuvel played her well. The queen’s story has been spoken briefly, and was a subject of great interest. Her marriage to King George and their love story was a changing point to the Regency-era kingdom, as it caused a massive shift in society, which had until then, seen White people in power.

For the series, India Amarteifio has been casted as the young Queen Charlotte, with Rosheuvel also making an appearance. Adjoa Andoh will return as Lady Agatha Danbury and Ruth Gemmell will return as Lady Violet Bridgerton.

As she prepares for her work on the novel, Julia Quinn spoke about the character. She said that it had been exciting to adapt the series from the novels, but it is going to be more challenging to adapt Rhimes’ vision into a novel. After all, Queen Charlotte was not in the original novels, but her on-screen performance will make readers want to know more about the character.

Meanwhile, we have season 3 of Bridgerton coming, which will focus on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
