Black Slave Abolitionist Harriet Tubman Biopic!! Was Julia Roberts The First Choice?

As per revelations made this week, Julia Roberts was the first choice to play Harriet Tubman in the biopic movie. The shocking statements were made by Gregory Allen, the screenwriter, and producer of Harriet.

He began working on the screenplay of the movie in 1994, and as per one studio head, Julia’s name was recommended for the main lead.He further continued by saying when someone suggested Julia cannot be Harriet, the studio head insisted nobody will know the difference.

But Twitter certainly knew the difference and had some thoughts about the ridiculous suggestion made of a white actress portraying a black heroine.
So far, Julia has not commented on the statement. But a lot of reactions are seen on social media by outrageously rejecting such claims.

‘I’m guessing Julia Roberts would very much like to be excluded from this narrative.’
‘I’m sorry, but I’m just imagining Julia Roberts screaming, “TO FREEDOM!” in blackface and…
‘They said Julia Roberts OVER SCARLETT JOHANSSON, our melanin queen!?’ these are the reactions floating on the media by Julia fans who are not ready to accept such baseless news.

Cynthia Erivo is playing the black slave abolitionist in Kasi Lemons’ movie Harriet. The film hits cinemas on 1st Nov and recounts the incredible story of Harriet’s escape from slavery, before going on to free others using the underground railway network of safe houses.
The other casts included Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, and Janelle Monáe.
We hope such controversies die down soon and enjoy the excellent work displayed at the big cinema.
