Billy Joel is under strict doctor’s orders for vocal rest

Billy Joel is reported of being infected by viral infection due to which the “Uptown Girl” singer couldn’t sing for certain period of time. He postponed his final Madison Square Garden concert of the year due to his poor health condition. The show is currently shifted to June 2 in the next year.

On Sunday morning, Billy Joel shared a note explaining the reason for the change in the schedule. His note reads: “We understand the inconvenience this causes everyone who purchased tickets and we apologize for this unexpected circumstance”. He says that he was confident that he would be back with full recovery till December but that didn’t happen.

Regarding the tickets, they are supposed to be used for the June concert and are not required to change.

Joel’s upcoming concerts

Billy Joel planned to reschedule his concert at the Garden for August at time when Omicron was spreading widely in New York. Joel thought of the best decision for his touring team and decided to reschedule them immediately. According to sources, the remaining concerts are expected to resume as per the time decided that is January 13 and 27.

The December show would have been historic as it achieves a milestone of Joel’s 86th monthly and 132nd lifetime show at the Garden. He was the Garden’s first-ever music franchise who joined the likes of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers.

Just after the announcement of the show, more than 1.5 million people purchased tickets and grossed more than $181 million from his Madison Square Garden residency. Not only that, but he has previously featured surprise guest for making the night memorable with Olivia Rodrigo, Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, Paul Simon, Miley Cyrus and John Mellencamp.
