The sequel arrives after 13 years
Disney has released the official teaser trailer for Avatar 2, or Avatar: The Way of the Water! James Cameron’s massive blockbuster has been in development for years, after the first movie came out in 2009. From the trailer, it is easily understood that Cameron has once again pushed the boundaries of technology for the film, with stunning visuals throughout. Let’s discuss more below.
Avatar 2 Teaser and Poster
As understood from the name, water is a major theme for Avatar 2. While every scene is breathtaking, the water scenes are something that deserves special mention. We can see Cameron and his team has given tender care to every single shot, and the underwater CGI stands apart. There are very few scenes of conflict in the trailer. Instead, the team has given us a more peaceful and serene teaser, combined with atmospheric music. But the hints of the looming danger are evident, and it is clear that Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) must do everything to protect their family and clan.
And with that, we come to the next theme – Family. We see that Jake and Neytiri have their own children, and an adopted human child as well. Some of the shots are of them, enjoying life in Pandora. The original movie was visually stunning, but received criticism for the story not matching up. But we can hope that the makers will make up for it in Avatar 2.
Disney’s Strategy
Disney is making sure the audiences properly focuses on everything they have to offer. The first time Avatar 2 was shown was during CinemaCon 2022. Next, it started being shown for screenings of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We are still a long way away from the movie, which will be out on December.
