‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ Teaser Shows First Clear Look at Kang the Conqueror

Jonathan Majors makes his return as the MCU’s next big villain

The official teaser for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is out, and we get a clear look at Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. Majors made his debut as a Kang variant in Loki last year and gets killed. But before dying, he reveals that a more sinister version of himself will rise to power in his absence. Kang’s presence added a more sinister look to the teaser and the movie in general because the stakes are higher.

While we had just received the teaser, the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was shown to lucky attendees in July at San Diego Comic-Con. But from the teaser, we see not just Majors as Kang, but Bill Murray, who has made his MCU debut.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania tells the third adventure of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), who revisit the Quantum realm with Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer). It is clear that the movie works in service to the greater MCU as opposed to the other two Ant-Man movies, which sort of worked as standalone films. It is acknowledged in the teaser, with Lang acknowledging that he’s the hero that no one remembers. But that is looking to change.

The Phase 4 Problem

Aside from a few projects, Phase 4 of the MCU was lackluster, with no clear focus. It was acknowledged at the end of She-Hulk, which in itself was one of the worst shows ever. This would mean that Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige will create more distinct movies and series.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania releases worldwide on February 17, 2023.
