Abbott Elementary Episode 2 Gets Highest Ratings Among ABC Shows Since Modern Family’s Finale

Mockumentaries never go out of style

ABC has found its next big player, and it’s Abbott Elementary. Their previous hit Modern Family wrapped up after 11 successful seasons in April 2020, and viewers were waiting for ABC’s next hit. Abbott Elementary might just be that show, and its second episode got huge ratings in multiple platforms.

The ensemble comedy collected 9.0 million total viewers and was rated 2.93. Once again, it was seen in adults aged between 18 and 49 in 35 days. Views were collected from digital and linear platforms. Since Modern Family, this was the most-rated comedy from ABC by the 18-49 category.

By the second episode, that is, after 35 days, the viewers grew by 5.6 million and rose by +358% in adults 18-49. A reason why Abbott Elementary did not end up as a hidden gem is because of Steve Harvey’s new show. Abbott followed right after Judge Steve Harvey.

About the show

Abbott Elementary
ABC

Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary sitcom created by Quinta Brunson. Brunson stars in the lead as Janine Teagues, a second grade teacher who wants to make a difference for her students. She and other teachers who share her dedication and passion are brought to a Philadelphia public school and help the students succeed in life. However, Abbott Elementary is underfunded, and the situations are harsh. Most teachers don’t stay beyond two years, but the newbies do not back down. They still enjoy what they do, and continue with their journey of helping students.

Of course, the mockumentary-styled direction deserves special mention. Famous shows in this list include The Office, Parks and Rec, and of course, Modern FamilyAbbott Elementary address serious issues that schools to this day suffer from, but is not devoid of humour in any way.
