The DC FanDome takes place on October 16
Get ready to get a lot of surprises from The Batman at October’s DC FanDome 2021. The news was teased by none other than Batman himself, Robert Pattinson. The Good Time star will play the next iteration of the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ standalone film. Just like his predecessors Pattinson is aware of the pressure that comes with the role. We can expect to see more news on him during the DC fan event.
The Batman’s history
The movie was originally set to be directed, written, and starred by Ben Affleck. After the actor left the project to focus on his personal life, the movie was given a major overhaul. The movie was taken out of the DCEU and set into its own universe. With this, the makers have full creative freedom in deciding Bruce Wayne’s new story.
Matt Reeves was brought in as director, and he decided the new stars. Aside from Pattinson, the stars include Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Paul Dano’s Riddler will be the antagonist.
The movie recently concluded filming after numerous setbacks due to COVID-19. Even Pattinson tested positive once.
The plot
While we don’t know the main story, director Reeves generously spilled some secrets. He revealed that they will tackle the systemic corruption that runs deep within Gotham. From the trailer, it can be understood that the Riddler’s serial killings have something to do with it as well. His final words to Bruce Wayne, saying he’s part of this too, shows that Bruce, or rather his parents were integral in this corruption.
We can get more details during DC FanDome. Don’t forget to tune in Saturday, Oct. 16, beginning at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
