One of the first celebrities to pay their respects to James Caan was Al Pacino, who starred as his younger brother in The Godfather. In a statement to EW, Pacino called him his fictional brother and lifelong friend. He added that it is hard to believe that he’s not in the world as he was daring and full of life. Pacino called him a brilliant director, great actor, and a dear friend, and said he will miss him.

Francis Ford Coppola, Godfather‘s director also paid his respects. He was all set to reunite with James Caan for his upcoming film Megapolis. Coppola said that ‘Jimmy’ was someone who had been part of all the milestones in his life, and the roles he had played will never be forgotten.

Other stars included Robert De Niro, Kathy Bates, and Barbara Streisand, who had all starred alongside Caan at some point, along with a slew of actors and directors who spoke kindly on him.
