Cheers Star Jerry Harris Pleaded Guilty
On Thursday, American T.V personality and ex cheerleader Jeremiah Harris pleaded guilty to sexual abuse and child pornography charges. He was initially accused of 7 sexual abuse charges, and pleaded guilty for 2 of them. Back in September 2020, two teenage brothers accused the now, 22- year old.
The brothers, who are minors, accused him of seeking sexual favours and nude photos from them. Later that week, he was taken under police custody for suspicion of production of child pornography. A few months later, additional charges were put on him.
Attorney’s Statement
Harris’s attorney, Todd Pugh stated that Harris wants to take responsibility and therefore for that pleaded guilty. Pugh further stated that Harris comes from a situation of poverty and sexual trauma. Also the industry that he belongs to, takes sexual abuse casually. The attorney revealed that Harris was himself a victim of sexual abuse. Thus, leading him to believe that his actions were okay.
The attorney representing the two 13 year olds, Sarah Klein asked for a very close examination of his whole cheerleading squad.
Career and Downfall
Jerry Harris garnered fame through the Netflix series “Cheer”and. Later he also made his first T.V. appearance on The Ellen Show in 2022 along with the team of “Cheer”. The docu-series follows a team of competitive college athletes.
Harry pleaded guilty to the rest five sexual assault charges. He allegedly admitted to having sexual relations with a 15 year old back in 2013. Among all these charges, there was also accused of travelling to Florida, in order to have sex with a 15 year old.
The Cheer Athletics’ media team released a statement claiming that Cheer Athletics care about the safety of their athletes. They trust the judiciary system, they added.
Harris is still not clear of all the charges and the full story is yet to unveil.
