The defamation carries on with Amber Heard taking the pedestal this Wednesday
The ongoing legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has moved on to the next step. Heard took the stand on Wednesday and alleged abuse at the hands of her ex-husband. The couple first met during production on 2011’s The Rum Diary in 2011. After years of dating, they got married in 2015, but Amber Heard filed for divorce in 2016, citing domestic abuse. In the years that followed, Team Heard kept piling allegations after allegations and Depp’s reputation took a nosedive. But in the case that got reopened two weeks ago, we got to hear many interesting stories about Heard, the self-proclaimed victim of domestic violence. Now, let’s go into detail.
Amber Heard on the Stand
Heard began by talking about the time Depp allegedly hit her across the face. This was in reaction to the time Depp talked about Heard laughing at his “Wino Forever” tattoo. Heard said that she thought he was joking and laughed. But he allegedly slapped her across the face twice, making her realise the worst that could happen has happened.
She also said she was sexually assaulted by Depp in 2013, and she could not do anything about it. It even included a “cavity search.”
The Trial So Far
Up until this week, it was Depp’s legal team presenting their side of the case. Since he was the plaintiff, he got to present the witnesses first. Depp himself spoke on the stand and gave his side of the story, including moments from his childhood. Depp and his witnesses denied that he is not an abuser, and even detailed sudden personality changes in Heard.
For now, the jury, as well as the rest of the world seems to be heavily supporting Depp. But now that Heard and her team is presenting, there is a chance that public opinion can change.
