The Asterisk War Season 3: Did the show get enough success to green-light a third season?

The anime has collected quite a number of fans, but will that be enough?

The Asterisk War was one of those animes that was surprisingly well-received and got renewed for a second season. The first season aired in 2015 and the second arrived in 2016. But for the past four years, no word has been received regarding season 3. It’s known that animes take a long time to be made unlike television shows that get made and released in one year.

The Asterisk War has been adapted from the light novel series of the same name and it’s still ongoing. It’s last volume was released on December 25, 2019. The one before that was released on April 25, 2019 and was the third volume of a spinoff story called “Wings of Queenvale.” From this spinoff, a lot can be adapted in the anime.

How Netflix comes into the picture

Another reason for saying that we can expect more from the series is because it’s currently available on Netflix. Now as we know, Netflix only picks up anime that holds a lot of promise. So even if the original production studio A-1 Pictures Inc. decides to end it, Netflix can renew it for the third season, as they had done many times in the past. Therefore, chances of us getting season 3 of The Asterisk War is quite high.

For those who are not familiar with the series, it’s set in a world that got destroyed by a global cataclysm called Invertia and is currently run by an assembly called the Integrated Enterprise Foundation. Following the cataclysm, some of the people were born with superhuman abilities called Genestella and for them special schools were built. The protagonist is a boy named Ayato Amagiri who transfers to one such school inorder to find his missing sister.

We will be updating the page as soon as an announcement is made regarding season 3.
