Twitter Announcement
The anime’s official Twitter account announced the movie shortly after the second season finale was done airing in Japan. No story details was disclosed, but they did confirm that the movie will be out before the end of 2022. Japanese entertainment site Comics Natalie shared a first piece of promo art from the film (shown above).
The second season had a unique finale, since the episode was an hour and eight minutes long, as opposed to the usual 23-25 minutes every anime has. All episodes are available for streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
The story
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is the story of Satoru Nikami, a 37-year-old salaryman in modern day Japan who got stabbed to death by an unknown assailant. But Mikami’s journey was far from over. When he woke up, he was in a fantasy world as a slime, the lowest creature in the food chain in the RPG world. But he asked the wish-granting goddess for certain skills that made him overpowered.
Naming himself as Rimuru Tempest, he sets out with his unique skills and soon establishes a nation of fellow monsters. His ultimate goal is to create a society where all races of monsters can peacefully co-exist with the human kingdoms in this new world.
The story began as a light novel in 2014, written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah and became a manga in 2015. It was picked up as an anime in 2018 by studio Eight Bit, who did all seasons and OVAs.
