Demon Slayer: The Strong Viewership Numbers might have just Strengthened the Arrival of Series

The show is very likely to happen following all the box office records made by ‘Demon Slayer: Infinite Train’

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was one of the most successful animes to release in 2019, and has made a major impact in the anime industry. The show is based on the equally successful manga of the same name. The anime won the ‘Best Anime’ award in 2019 and became ‘Anime of the Year’ at the 2020 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

An official release date is yet to be announced, but the second season is likely to arrive in spring or summer 2021. A report on crunchyroll.com that came on October 15 revealed that season two was currently in production, and since they didn’t give any other details, it’s safe to assume that the work has been going on for some time.

In other news, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba THE MOVIE Mugen Train has become the second-biggest weekends hit in Japanese movie history. It collected 10 billion yen, which amounts to $95 million in just ten days. It dethroned Spirited Away’s 19-year-reign as the number one in just about half the time. Spirited Away took 25 days to reach the 10 billion mark. Kimi no Nawa or Your Name took 28 days for 10 billion and Weathering With You took 34 days.

Mugen Train will be releasing outside Japan for fan screening in December 2020 and January 2021, as per the anime’s official Twitter account. It will depend on the movie’s success in IMAX cinemas in Japan so that similar deals can be made with IMAX theatres in other countries. There are already 41 countries with IMAX venues. IMDb currently shows that the movie will release in other Asian countries in early 2021.
