Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has two projects with DC currently
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to Instagram to announce that he’s wrapped up voice-over sessions on the first DCEU animated film, DC League of Super-Pets. Most eyes are on Johnson’s other movie Black Adam, but don’t miss out on Johnson appearing as Superman’s pet dog Krypto on May 20, 2022.
As the title implies, the movie will focus on the pets of famous DC superheroes. Aside from Johnson, Kevin Hart will play Ace the Bat-Hound, and Marc Maron will voice Lex Luthor. Keanu Reeves, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Kate McKinnon, Natasha Lyonne, and Diego Luna are also joining in undisclosed roles.

The history
The movie is directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, and based on the characters who first appeared in Adventure Comics #293 in February 1962. The original members include Krypto, Beppo the Super-Monkey, Comet the Super-Horse, Proty the shape shifter, and Streaky the Squirrel. However, the movie will have a new team.
Aside from Krypto and Ace, the other Super-Pets are Flash’s turtle, Green Lantern’s squirrel, and Wonder Woman’s pig. The synopsis mentions Krypto teaming up with a flying cat, so Streaky the Supercat (Supergirl’s pet) can also appear. Johnson’s production house, Seven Bucks Production, will bankroll the film.
DC’s hierarchy of power
While DC League of Super-Pets are for younger audiences, Black Adam will bring the character’s brutality to the big screens in live-action. The director, Jaume Collet-Serra compared Johnson’s performance as Black Adam to Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry. The movie has become a passion project for the former WWE Superstar, who is now on a career high.
Black Adam can cause the same impact as James Gunn’s Suicide Squad and usher in a new era for the DCEU.
