The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power Amazon TV series producers responded to criticism due to casting
The Upcoming and anticipated Amazon Prime Series ‘Lord of Rings: The Rings of Power‘ is going to entertain us on September 2nd, 2022. Now the cast of this series is unique. Some people cannot digest the diverse casting. After the announcement of cast members, Amazon received many online complaints.
The backlash is that the series didn’t feature white characters and actors similar to Tolkien’s writings. As the film adaptation of the writings has most cast as white people. But this time the casting is quite mixed. The producers predicted this type of response. So they responded with the statements. It contains the meaning that Tolkien’s writings is for everyone and the main thing about his works is that his fictional races do their best when they leave the isolation of their individual cultures and come together.
The Diverse Cast
The plot of the series is about the Second Age of Middle-earth’s history which includes elves, dwarves, etc. Now coming to cast the first non-white elf named Arondir which is played by Ismael Cruz Córdova, And first female and black dwarf in Lord of rings franchise played by Sophia Nomvete as Dwarven princess Disa.
Along with them Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Owain Arthur as Durin IV, Nazanin Boniadi as Bronwyn, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Ismael Cruz Córdova as Arondir, Markella Kavenagh as a curious Harfoot.
The first eight episodes took place in New Zealand with some breaks due to COVID-19. What’s iconic is we will get a nostalgic feeling because that is the same location where the Lord of rings trilogy shooting took place. The series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, 2022. The Second season shooting is to begin in mid-2022.
