September is shaping to be a month for many streaming debuts and world premiers
It’s Labour Day weekend, and for those who want to stay in and watch movies, there are plenty to choose from. Some of the year’s biggest hits, like ELvis, Jurassic World Dominion, and Thor: Love and Thunder are now available for streaming. So without further ado, let’s check out the top five list.
1. Elvis (Sept 2, HBO Max)
Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis has to be on top of the list, with a global collection of $277 million. The biopic of Elvis Presley has Austin Butler in the titular role going through the various stages as the King of Rock n’ Roll.
2. Blonde (Sept 28, Netflix)
Blonde just had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and will arrive on Netflix by the end of the month. The biopic is described as the bold reimagining of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. The movie promises to blue the lines between fact and fiction and shows the actress’s split lives.
3. Thor: Love and Thunder (Sept 8, Disney+)
The latest adventure of the God of Thunder will see him clashing with Gorr the God Butcher. The movie had mixed reviews during its theatre run, but if you want to relax and have some laughs, its for you.
4. Jurassic World Dominion (Sept 2, Peacock)
The final instalment of the Jurassic World trilogy reunited heroes from the present and past. While it did not create a lot of buzz on social media, the movie did a massive $990 million worldwide collection. It is enjoyable, and shows the scary reality of humans and dinosaurs coexisting.
5. Hocus Pocus 2
The spooky Sanderson Sisters return in the long-awaited sequel to 1993’s Hocus Pocus. Original stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimi, and Sarah Jessica Parker return in their iconic roles, rising from the dead to face off against the two girls who lit the candle again.
