- Elizabeth “Liz” Forbes: When it was revealed that Sheriff had cancer, everyone was devastated by this news. And when the gang realized that they could not save her, they were even more devastated. She suffered a lot in the last few months of her life. It was the most heartbreaking news for the fans. Fans admired her fearless & brave attitude.
- Katherine Pierce: Katherine was selfish, manipulative and cruel but there was something that made her appealing. Her role was controversial but fans believed that she deserved a better ending. Her character was loved for the hate she emitted.
- Jenna Sommers: Jenna was a fierce and family-oriented woman. She may not be responsible but she did all to support Elena & Jeremy in the aftermath of their parent’s death. When she did realize the supernatural occurrence, she was instantly killed. She had much more to give.
- Olivia Parker:Olivia was rude, sarcastic & very deceiving in nature. But once she earned the trust of Mystic Falls gang & prevented Tylers Curse she proved herself as a trustworthy character. She was killed just as her relationship with Tyler was taking off. She was another one who suffered a sad death.
- Tyler Lockwood:Tyler’s character was loved by fans very much. Fans thought that his character’s ending was a little underwhelming. Fans saw Tyler come out of the battles against the originals, Vampire hunters, psychopathic warlocks unscathed. He was killed by Damon after he stumbled onto one of his traps.
- Lexi Branson: Lexi was an instant hit with fans. She was lovable, quirky & had a great sense of humor. For some genuine reason, writers decided to kill her off. Fans were disappointed that they never got to see her develop a relationship with other characters.
- Josette “Jo” Laughlin: Jo was believed by fans as a shortchanged character. She was introduced in Season 6. She immediately struck up a relationship with Elena after a vampire enlisted in her pre-med class at college. She became a key asset to the group too, assisting in cover-ups & providing magical & medical expertise.
- Lorenzo “Enzo” St. John: Enzo’s character was also felt to be one of the short-changed characters in the end. He was introduced in season 5. He was in a relationship with Bonni and it became a surprise for fans. Enzo was seen to have his fair share of tragedy too, being abandoned by his family & losing Maggie & lily. It was good that he got a brief glimpse of happiness. Fans were so annoyed when he was also killed off.
- Stefan Salvatore: To be honest, no one was surprised Stefan ended up sacrificing himself to save Mystic Falls. However, fans were a little disappointed when Stefan died 22 hours after he got married.
- Bonnie Bennett: Bonnie was in a relationship with Enzo. She deserved better. She was tormented by psychopathic warlocks, narcissistic vampires, and pesky werewolf. She was also seen to make great sacrifices to ensure her loved ones were safe. She was always happy but unfortunately, she died. Bonnie, like the other characters, deserved so much better.
