Check out the details of The Last Kingdom Season 4! Plot, Cast and Release

The Last Kingdom, the British historical fiction drama on Netflix has been renewed for Season 4

When is it coming out?

Netflix announced back in April 2019 that filming had begun on the 10 brand new episodes. So it is expected to release in early 2020.

Story so far

The story revolves around Uhtred son of Uhtred, a Saxon boy who has been raised up by Danes after they capture him and decide to bring him up as their own. Nonetheless, Uhtred’s betrayal let the Danes affirm that he killed his adoptive father. Henceforth, Uhtred was forced to travel to Wessex.

What can we expect in the upcoming season?

It will be based on the adaptation of the book called The Pagan Lord, published in 2013. So we expect to see a fresh bunch of young talents. In this book, Uhtred’s children from Gisela are all grown up.

Cast

Alexander Dreymon is all set to return as Uhtred of Bebbanburg, though a little older and, with the union between the kingdoms fractured, he thinks that it is right time to challenge his uncle Aelfric (Joseph Millson).

Other than this, some of the recurring cast is going to be Ian Hart as Father Beocca, Emily Cox as Brida, Timothy Innes as Kind Edward, Eliza Butterworth as Aelswith, Toby Regbo as Aethelred, Mark Rowley as Finan, Magnus and Jeppe Beck Laursen as Haesten.

It has also been confirmed that Stefanie Martini will join the cast as Eadith, who will be Aethelred’s new love interest. Jamie Blackley will join the cast as Aethelred’s new wingman Eardwulf.

Where to watch Season 4

The first two seasons of The Last Kingdom aired on both the BBC and Netflix. However, season three is available only on Netflix after the BBC decided to cut ties with the historical fiction drama. So we can expect Season 4 to be on Netflix very soon.
