There is a piece of great news that The Witcher series is renewed for the season 2 even before the first episode of the series was aired. We have some clues about when season 2 of The Witcher will be released. Here is everything we know about the series.

About The Witcher

The Witcher is a fantasy drama series which was produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The series is based on the book series bearing the same name as the series written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The series follows adventures of a monster-hunter named Geralt of Rivia.

It is a new Netflix series is reportedly the most popular streaming show in the world and was second-most popular series of the year 2019 on the industry-leading streamer (only after Stranger Things).

The first season of The Witcher which consisted of eight episodes was streamed on Netflix on December 20, 2019. The season 1 was based on The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, which are collections of short stories that precede the main Witcher saga. Before the release of the season 1, Netflix announced that season 2, consisting of 8 episodes will be released in 2021.

 

The Witcher Season 2 Release Date

One month before the release of The Witcher on Netflix, series was renewed for a second season. On January 7, 2020,  Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who is the creator of The Witcher provided a hint that season 2 of the series will return in 2021. According to the actor Henry Cavill, the pre-production on season 2 of The Witcher will begin soon this year (2020). There is no official announcement of the premiere date so far.

Cast Of The Witcher Season 2

In an interview, Hissrich confirmed that Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan will be the part of season two. That means fans can expect to see a lot more of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri adventures when The Witcher returns in 2021. But there is no official announcement from the Netflix or the series creator until now.
