Jussie Smollett, aged 37 years, is an actor and singer of America. He is best known for his role in the Fox drama series Empire as musician Jamal Lyon. On Tuesday, 11th February 2020, a special prosecutor announced that a grand jury returned a six-count charge against the actor accusing him on the ground of lying to the Chicago police last year when he reported a racist and homophobic attack on him.  The special prosecutor, Dan Webb, further stated in a statement that the actor faces six counts of disorderly conduct.

In addition to it, they had also beaten and looped a noose around his neck before fleeing the scene. Later on the in the following month, the charges against him were dropped with little explanation.

Second-time indictment against Jussie Smollett

This is the second time the actor, Jussie Smollett, is facing indictment against his on the staged attack and lying to the police.  It came from the special prosecutor who was appointed to look after the case after charges against the actor were dropped last year without any action against him. The prosecutor also said that new charges against him came from four separate false reports given to the police by the actor. The actor stated in them that he was a victim of a hate crime when he knew that he was not a victim of such a crime.

Jussie’s attorney, Tina Gandhian, has not immediately responded to the charges but questioned about the decision to file new charges by Webb. She said that the indictment raises serious questions about the integrity of the investigations that led to the renewed charges.
