Netflix’s Altered Carbon is based on a novel written by Richard K. Morgan which has the same name. The story is set in a future world where humans have conquered their death by digitally uploading their consciousness into disks known as cortical stacks. These stacks grant individuals immortality as their consciousness can be downloaded into a physical body, called a sleeve.
The series of Altered Carbon is about a man named Takeshi Kovacs. He is the last surviving member of the Envoys which is a rebel group of soldiers. They were crushed when attempting to take down the new world order.
Season 1 Preview
In the first season of the series which begins 250 years after the defeat of Envoys. Here, Takeshi Kovacs’ stack is uploaded into a new physical body who is known as Ryker (Joel Kinnaman), to solve a murder for one of the wealthiest men in the universe.
With the new teaser of Altered Carbon Season 2, Netflix revealed that Anthony Mackie will be stepping into the lead role of Kovacs. The finale of season 1 made us witness Altered Carbon, Ryker’s consciousness returning to his original sleeve so he could reunite with his lover. However, the twist was that Takeshi Kovacs’ sleeve gets transferred to Mackie.
Season 2 Teaser
In Season 2 of Altered Carbon, Will is supposed to take place 30 years after the season 1 finale, Takeshi Kovacs will be searching for his long lost love, Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry).
Cast
Other cast members confirmed for season 2 of the Altered Carbon are Simone Missick, Dina Shihabi, Torben Liebrecht, James Saito, and Chris Conner. Kinnaman is not yet currently confirmed to be the part of season 2 but there is still an opportunity for him to reprise his role as Ryker.
Release
The newly released teaser of Altered Carbon season 2 reveals Anthony Mackie as Takeshi Kovacs which was previously portrayed by Joel Kinnaman. Altered Carbon season 2 will be launched on Netflix by February 27, 2020.
