It sounds scary when one hears of the cases of a disease being high in terms of the number of people suffering from it.
It is a wake cup call for the governments of every country as one stat shall be looked at with giving some needful attention to it. Things seemed to have got serious now as the cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are being diagnosed from one part of the world or the other in every 70 seconds.
It has been discovered that a report by the Terrence Higgins Trust and the British Association for Sexual Health & HIV (BASHH) found out a number of people diagnosed by the disease of Syphilis. This is at its peak since World War Two, and it seems like some STIs are going undiagnosed by struggling sexual health services.
In the year 2018, The State of Nation report claims that nearly half a million cases of STIs were diagnosed in the state of England. Plus, it has also been recorded that cases of gonorrhea have risen by 249%, while rates of syphilis have increased by 165%.
The ones who are the most affected by this disease include young people, gay and bisexual men, individuals from some ethnic minority populations, and people living with HIV. What saddens more is that nearly half of all new STI diagnoses count young people, with gay and bisexual men accounting for 75% of all syphilis diagnoses.
