YouTube star KSI has linked up with renowned hip-hop singers Rick Ross and Lil Baby for his new single ‘Down Like That.’ The 26-year-old British gamer has amused more than 20 million subscribers on his YouTube channel through his video content, and now the occasional rapper has united with Lil Baby and Rick Ross for his musical cause.
The song is a decent dose of melodic rap, tinged ever-so-slightly with dubstep elements. KSI sounds comfortable on an instrumental, kicking things off with some opening bars. “I’m cold with this, slow man down like Freezer,” he spits. “Wanna backstab like Frieza, dictate death like Caesar.” The song features Rick Ross, who drops off a brief and admittedly phoned-in verse, and Lil Baby fares no better, capable though not exerting himself in the slightest.
Apart from rapping, KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olatunji, also takes part in amateur boxing. His first one against British YouTuber Joe Weller was watched by 1.6 billion people online. He is also a member and co-founder of the entertainment collective known as the Sidemen, with six other British YouTubers, producing online videos and merchandise to a combined audience of over 53 million followers. Olatunji registered his YouTube account under the name KSIOlajideBT in the year 2009.
While the track itself is fine, look for more excitement to pop off in KSI’s upcoming boxing match with Logan Paul on November 9th. With lyrics like ‘I want that knockdown,’ it is clear at least some of the bars are aimed at Logan, with some fans wondering if the star will be walking out to his own song on the night.
