Ryan Murphy: “It happened so quickly with no warning”
Glee is an American comedy television drama which was aired on Fox in 2009 and ended in 2015. Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan which casted actors like Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison and many more.
The show revolved around glee club called the New Directions. It was one of the singing clubs of the William McKinley High School, students tend to participate in the show choir. Despite the active participation, the show deals with the mental, emotional, social issues of the students specifically about sexuality and stereotypes.
The show ended due to many reasons to which one was reflected in a podcast by Glee alums Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale called “And That’s What You Really Missed”.
As per reports, Ryan Murphy admits that the dismissal of the show had direct connection with the unexpected death of Cory Monteith.
The last episode “The Quarterback” was for the tribute of the late actor
Monteith, who played the role Finn Hudson on the series died unexpectedly due to heroin overdose on July 13, 2013, at the age of just 31. After his death, the show continued till 2 years but concluded after that following the tribute to the actor in the last season.
Murphy told that if he had a choice to revert the past, he would definitely not continue the show again as he quoted, “if had to do it again, we would’ve stopped for a very long time and probably not come back.” He further added by recalling it as not a normal death but a death with no warning, an immediate shock.
It got a little hard for him to accept it and so he couldn’t decide what to do and after a month Murphy finally decided to end the show and dismissed it by showing the death of the character.
Besides Ushkowitz, 36, and McHale, 34, were also seen about talking about how they had absolutely no choice but to say no to continue the show.
