Kristen Stewart details about the reproval of people over her sexuality.
Kristen Stewart was advised to stop holding her girlfriend’s hand in public if she wants to further in her career, the actor revealed. It’s been some years since the Twilight star opened up about her sexual preferences, but the society continues to stigmatize her for her bisexuality.
In a recent interview and Photoshoot with a leading fashion magazine, the 29-year-old makes alarming but unsurprising revelations about the experiences she had to undergo due to her bisexuality. Talking about the criticism, she told Harper’s Bazaar that she was told to do herself a favor by not holding her girlfriend’s hand in public; she might get a chance in a Marvel movie.”I don’t want to work with people like that,” she affirmed.
She went on to explain that she found her freedom since then, as she just wants to enjoy her life and the process of enjoying life and celebrating who she is, took precedence over protecting her life because in protecting it, she was ruining it.
She added that she was informed by an old-school mentality, which is, she wants to preserve her career, her success, and her productivity, and there are people in the world who don’t like her, and they don’t like that she dates girls, and they don’t like that she doesn’t identify as a quote-unquote ‘lesbian’, but she also doesn’t identify as a quote-unquote ‘hetero-sexual. And people like to know stuffs, so what is she even?
But by that time, the realization of not being answerable for that question had dawned upon her, and she credits the younger generation for it as those people gave her the courage to stick to, she informs.
Stewart doesn’t mind being the standard-bearer for the ambiguity that people have made her because she is happy if she makes it easier for anyone to talk about their sexuality. And now, she gets approached by people who are drawn to her undefined sexuality, wanting to make movies about it. “Literally, life is a huge popularity contest,” she ends.
On the professional front, Kristen Stewart’s mainstream movie after long, Charlie’s Angels’ is set to release in cinemas on November 29th, 2019. And she will make her directorial debut soon with ‘The Chronology of Water,’ the script of which is still under work.
