Julia Roberts praises & thanks George Clooney for Saving her!
In the next movie Ticket to Paradise, which was filmed in Australia, Julia Roberts and George Clooney will reunite. The lifelong friends were trapped in a pandemic bubble, and now Roberts is talking openly about how the Clooneys “saved” her while they were filming. Julia Roberts claims that the Clooney family prevented her from experiencing “total loneliness and sorrow.”
The on-screen partnership between Clooney and Roberts dates back further than a quick romantic getaway. After collaborating on movies like Ocean’s Eleven and Money Monster, Roberts and Clooney discussed their desire to do so again in an interview with the New York Times. While Ticket to Paradise was being filmed, Roberts lived alone while Clooney, his wife Amal, and their children remained in a nearby property.
There are worse individuals to be stuck with if you had to create a pandemic bubble than the Clooneys.
Julia Roberts and George Clooney are back together
In the Ol Parker-directed upcoming romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise, Julia Roberts and George Clooney play a divorced couple who band together and fly to Bali to save their daughter from committing the same error they did 25 years before. Billie Lourd, Kaitlyn Dever, and Lily Lucas Bravo make up the additional cast of the movie.
The two actors discussed playing exes and quarantining one another while filming in Australia in an interview with The New York Times. Clooney revealed that he rented a home for the duration of the production with his wife Amal and their twin kids. Roberts was staying at a different home close by while her husband and three kids were back in the US.
Clooney recalled that they began in Hamilton Island, with all these wild birds, and Julia had the house down just below Amal and him and the kids. He continued that early in the mornings, Julia and he would both be like, “Caa-caa,” when they emerged from their rooms. They would then bring her a cup of coffee. His children called her Aunt Juju.
Julia Roberts continued that The Clooneys saved her from extreme loneliness and despair. She elaborated that it was the longest time she ever spent apart from her family and she was in a bubble. “Since I turned 25, I don’t believe I’ve spent that much time alone,” she concluded.
Despite being lifelong friends and coworkers, Clooney and Roberts’ first romantic comedy together is Ticket to Paradise. Mother Mia! Ol Parker, who also directed Here We Go Again, is the film’s director, and Clooney claims that it was “obviously created for Julia and I.” (He notes that the names of their characters were “Georgia and Julian” in the original script.)
Clooney and Roberts quip that it took them “80 takes” to film a single kissing moment without laughing, despite their obvious chemistry. The one take of our kissing followed by 79 takes of us laughing, according to Roberts.
Beginning in 2022, production on Ticket to Paradise was delayed due to an increase in COVID cases in Australia. Multiple instances were reported at the time by Deadline, and the “American stars of the film had flown home to wait out the increase in local cases.”
Julia Roberts jokingly had said that her reunion with George Clooney in the upcoming movie Ticket to Paradise has “too much promise for it to be amazing” in an interview with Variety during the Cannes Film Festival.
The movie is set for its big theatrical release on October 21, 2022.
