BTS adds another feather
The World Expo 2030 in Busan, Korea will have BTS as its official ambassadors, according to the expo’s bid committee.
The hiring was made public on July 19 by the BTS management team at the HYBE corporate office in Seoul. In a statement to Billboard, BTS’s leader RM added: “We are honored to be named ambassadors for World Expo 2030 Busan. BTS will make every effort to assist in bringing the World Expo to Busan in 2030. The band members will also be serving as ambassadors during the event, RM continued.

In his statement, RM pledged that “we will also make extra efforts to not only support the country’s candidacy, but also promote the lovely nature and culture of the Republic of Korea throughout the world.”
BTS and HYBE will try their utmost to successfully bring the World Expo to Busan, HYBE’s chairman Bang Si-Hyuk said. Further emphasizing on the importance of its bid as a nation to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan, he said that it will be a fantastic chance to support the continued growth of K-Culture and its regional pop cultures in Busan.
The group was congratulated by South Korean Prime Minister Han Duk-soo for serving as ambassadors for the nation. “We think that BTS will play the process’s most important role. We will be able to accomplish our goal with help from BTS and our people,” Han added.
Additionally, a concert by the K-pop group will be held in October to support Korea’s ambition to host the expo in 2030 was also revealed last month. Although additional information, like ticket prices and the exact date, has not yet been made public, the group will play at the Global Busan Concert.
BTS’ Sabbatical
BTS could be considering taking a sabbatical given the sudden success they’ve had abroad in recent years, but that doesn’t mean they’ll stop participating in major international events. BTS’s management firm, HYBE, revealed on Friday, June 24, that the septet will perform at a benefit concert to support South Korea’s quest to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan, South Korea.
BTS previously startled fans on June 14 when, according to the English version of their video, they declared that they were taking a “hiatus” to concentrate on solo projects during a Festa dinner party video. Shortly after, the group made it clear that although each member will devote more time to their respective initiatives, group events will still take place. J-Hope, the first group member to release solo music since then, will release his album Jack in the Box on July 15.
A BTS official revealed the band is on break last month and said the group is taking some time to “explore some solo projects.” Following the news, BTS rapper J-Hope was the first to drop new solo music, releasing his debut solo album, “Jack In The Box,” earlier this month.
J-Hope quickly shot down rumors that BTS was breaking up, referring to it as a “short pause.” He continued, “I think there was a little bit of lost in translation when we transmitted that information. I was a little startled that folks took it in a different way than how we intended them to take or understand that news. Without a doubt, we are not on break. The crew will continue to work. Over the past ten years, we have collectively learnt a lot and been better as a team.
In a statement released earlier this month, RM also addressed the rumors of the band’s breakup, claiming that “aggressive keywords taken out of context” were to blame for the perception that the band was breaking up and that “misinterpretations” regarding the band’s future had “left a bitter feeling in my heart.” “This is not the end for us,” he said.
