The Idol can be explained to be a mix of Euphoria and another HBO series – The Deuce, by David Simon and George Pelecanos. The series reveals what goes on in the music industry. While the trailer did not give away much details about the story, we have been made aware that the show will tell the story of a rising pop idol getting into a relationship with a self-help guru, who is the leader of a modern-day cult. The Weeknd will play the cult leader, and Rose-Depp will be the pop star.

Additionally, The Weeknd is also a co-creator on the show, along with Levinson and Reza Fahim. The ‘Starboy’ hitmaker’s previous on-screen appearance was a cameo as himself in Adam Sandler’s Uncut Gems.
