Cardi B wins legal dispute against a YouTuber
Cardi B has recently won the legal battle against YouTuber Latasha Kebe. The fight has been going on for the past two years and the American rapper has finally emerged victorious.
According to court documents, the YouTuber must pay Cardi at least $1.25 million.
About the legal battle between the duo
In 2019, Cardi B filed a lawsuit against Latasha claiming that the latter was trying to run a malicious campaign against her. The lawsuit also claimed that the WAP singer was falsely accused of testing positive for herpes and engaging in substance abuse.
The trial began in early January in Georgia. During the trial, the jury found Kebe liable for defamation, invasion of privacy and emotional harassment.
The complaint said Kebe’s intention was to capitalize on the false claims and she knew posting content on Up singer would gain her more views.
Kebe tried to countersue for $3 million accusing Cardi of sending her fans to harrass her. However, this judge dismissed the claim due to lack of evidence.
YouTube has not commented yet on the situation.
According to the terms and service of the popular streaming platform, YouTube is not responsible for any content posted by any of the users. However, in case of defamation complaints, they consider only when they get notified by the party or their legal representative.
It is not sure yet whether Kebe’s videos on Cardi will still be present on the platform.
US District Judge William Ray asked for the rapper’s HIV and herpes test reports from Women’s Pelvic Health at UCLA.
In November 2021, Ray confirmed the records proved Kebe wrong. Therefore, the Youtuber was ordered to pay $250,000 for medical damages.
Latasha Kebe goes by the name Tasha K. And her channel unWinewithTashaK has around 1 million subscribers.
