The family just got bigger
Some new information was revealed from James Cameron’s highly anticipated Avatar 2. A new first-look image of Jake and Neytiri’s adopted human son in the sequel was just revealed, along with details regarding what the story will be. The sequel of Avatar 2 will once again have Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), and the rest of the Na’vi tribe defending their planet Pandora once again from human invaders.
Avatar 2 will see the return of Sigourney Weaver, whose character Dr. Grace died in the first attack. It additionally stars Stephen Lang, Michelle Yeoh, Giovanni Ribisi, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet.
About Spider
Spider, whose real name is Miles Socorro, is played by Jack Champion (The Night Sitter). Miles was born on a military base in Pandora, and was too small to survive the long voyage to Earth, so he ended up getting adopted by Jake and Neytiri. They are also parents to their own Na’vi children Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), and Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss). Despite adopting him, Neytiri is always wary about the human child as in him she sees the very beings who had destroyed her home and killed her father, as explained by producer Jon Landau. So, it can be expected that Spider will be facing some sorts of oppression throughout the movie, until he possibly redeems himself.
A family element
20th Century StudiosLandau continued by saying that the prominence of family will continue to play out in the sequels as well. Jake being a human, and Neytiri being a Na’vi almost makes them similar to a modern mixed-race couple who are raising kids who can feel like they don’t entirely belong to either Earth or Pandora. Director James Cameron said that the various settings of the movies will evolve with each sequel and the kids of Jake and Neytiri will also be growing with each film.
We are still a year away from the movie’s release, so let’s wait and see how everything turns out in Avatar 2.
