Bleach Releases 20th Anniversary One-Shot Manga With a Novel Cover Art

New anime is also on the way

Tite Kubo’s Bleach is celebrating 20 years, and as part of the celebrations, a new cover art was launched. The art will appear in the upcoming Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, and a new anime adaptation of Bleach‘s Thousand-Year Blood War arc is also in the works. On top of all that, Kubo is returning to the series on a new one-shot manga with a story that takes place after the main story’s events.

The new story

Jump Comics

The upcoming one-shot has been titled Bleach: No Breathes From Hell and it will soon be digitally released in Japan, with added bonuses on special issues. This includes an all-new cover art featuring Ichigo Kurosaki. The art shows how the protagonist has been doing since the main events, and paints him in a sinister light.

The 73 page story’s announcement made it clear that Ichigo’s fight is not over, and this time the final remnants from the Soul Society will be making its entry, which is Hell itself. The story will be showing how the Soul Society has changed since the main series ended, and that the more ominous threats haven’t yet shown themselves to Ichigo and his team. Yhwach and Aizen, who had been keeping a watch on Hell are no longer in this world, so Hell can ascend at the moment of their choosing.

The series’ future

With Kubo showing an interest in the series even after the original run ended in 2016, this could be a sign that he wants to kickstart Bleach again, and take it a new direction. While we wait for the new one-shot, the Jump Festa 2022 is approaching and news of the Thousand-Year Blood War anime can be expected.
