Red (Taylor’s Version) came out on November 12
Taylor Swift‘s Red (Taylor’s Version) continues to make headlines as it has officially broken two Spotify records.
A spokesperson from the music streaming platform commented on the information, saying Red (Taylor’s Version) broke the record for the most-streamed album in a day by a female. Taylor also broke the record for the most-streamed female in a day in Spotify history. The spokesperson also said that they will remember this day in history “all too well” and congratulated the singer through Spotify’s official Twitter page.
Taylor Swift’s Red
Red (Taylor’s Version) is a re-recorded album of Swift’s 2012 hit album, Red. However, the new album also features some songs from her previous album Fearless, combining a total of 30 tracks. Fearless was released seven months ago, back in April. Taylor has collaborated with other musical legends like Chris Stapleton, Phoebe Bridgers, Ed Sheeran, and others.
Taylor Swift also released a 14-minute short film as the music video for her song, All Too Well, featuring Stranger Things star Sadie Sink and Teen Wolf star Dylan O’Brien. Swift wrote and directed the film, as well as starred in it towards the end.
She also appeared as the musical guest in this week’s Saturday Night Live, hosted by Lovecraft Country and Loki star Jonathan Majors.
Red‘s previous achievements
When the album released in October 2012, it created a lot of buzz, not just for the songs but also for the records it shattered. Red became Taylor Swift’s first ever Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single with the songs “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and “22 and Everything” ft. Ed Sheeran. The album stayed at the No. 1 spot of the Billboard 200 for the rest of 2012, and remained on the chart for a staggering 171 weeks.
However, the new version might just break all of that.
