The first episode premiered on Friday, November 12
The highly-anticipated SBS drama, Now We Are Breaking Up has received a 19+ rating.
The new romantic drama which takes place at a fashion industry has already promised to deal with love and breakups in a very realistic way. It stars Song Hye Kyo as Ha Young Eun, a fashion designer, and Jang Ki Yong as Yoon Jae Guk, a freelance photographer. The two are polar opposites when it comes to personalities, but an unlikely romance takes place, but things go downhill right from the early stages.
Why the 19+ rating?
The high rating for the first episode of Now We Are Breaking Up intrigued the audiences and news portals equally. When asked for the reason, the producers stated that Ha Young Eun and Yoon Jae Guk’s first meeting and romance takes place in a very bold way.
According to the Korea Media Rating Board, 19+ is given to any TV shows with use of alcohol, more sexual content, mild violence or little strong violence, major blood or gore, and/or suggestive themes. Due to the show’s focus on realism, it will be avoiding any sorts of fairytale romance and will dive straight into love, complete with all its beauty, its ugliness, and its consequences. Now We Are Breaking Up is being said to be real and bold in its approach.
Celebrating the premiere
In celebration of the drama’s premiere, actor and singer Park Hyung Sik sent flowers over to the leading lady Song Hye Kyo. The actress took to Instagram Stories to thank him and also mentioned his new drama Happiness which premiered on tvN last week. In the picture, she is seen holding a card where Park Hyung Sik had jokingly mentioned that the air time for their two dramas happen to overlap, and hence one will have to be missed for the other (good thing there are reruns).
