The Out-Laws will be directed by Tyler Spindel, who is known for Father of the Year, Deported, The Wrong Missy and more. The first script was penned by Evan Turner and Ben Zazove. It’s believed Jen D’Angelo was also part of the writing team.

The movie was in development since 2019 and DeVine was attached to it from the start. DeVine will also produce the movie under Adam Sandler’s production house, Happy Madison. Other producers include Isaac Horne and Brendan O’Brien.

Netflix has released a synopsis for the movie as well. DeVine will star as Owen Browning, a straight-laced bank manager who is ready to marry the love of his life, Parker. But when his bank gets held up by the infamous Ghost Bandits during his wedding week, he finds out that his future in-laws are the infamous out-laws. Brosnan will play the patriarch in the crime family, called Billy McDermott. Aside from DeVine and Brosnan, Netflix is believed to be interested in Lucy Liu for the role of Lilly McDermott.
