Costumes from Scream and Donnie Darko to come in exclusive bundles
Night will soon fall over Verdansk and horrifying creatures are all set to emerge. Call of Duty will soon roll out its Halloween event, The Haunting. It will come out in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone and bring Ghostface from the Scream franchise. However, what’s more surprising is that Frank the Rabbit from Donnie Darko is also joining the battlefield. Frank also looks to be able to drop a jet engine on enemies, just like in the movie.
What to expect
The event will go live on October 19, and ends on November 2. Ghostface will come as a whole new operator, while the Frank the Rabbit will come as a skin for operator John Baker. Additional new cosmetics include the Necro Queen skin for Portnova, Disciple of Mayhem skin for Weaver, and Lumens skin for Maxis.
As for Verdansk, it’s going dark, literally. Nightfall comes to the Warzone map, and ghosts will roam throughout the event. Developers call the Ghosts of Verdansk as spiritual successors to the Zombie Royale mode that came out in last year’s Halloween event. Players will now have to worry about both human and supernatural threats.
One more thing. In Ghosts of Verdansk, death won’t send you to the Gulag. You will be turned into ghosts if you get eliminated, and you can roam the battlefield. However, you won’t get weapons, but instead leap, teleport, and stun the operators who are alive. In order to kill them, you will have to claw them to death.
Other modes
Limited-time modes with scary twists are also arriving. The first is “Infected,” where one team becomes operators while the other are zombies; “Prop Hunt Halloween,” where players transform to jack-o’-lanterns, black cats, bats, and skeletons and hide on a Halloween-themed Nuketown map. And finally, it’s the Scream Deathmatch, where two operators becomes Ghostface and try to eliminate a group of survivors. Oh, and the survivors have no weapons.
