An interesting development is taking place in the town of Macedon. It was recently revealed that Grammy award winner Alicia Keys and her husband, producer Swiss Beatz, will be developing a music and arts center in the community.
The location is the erstwhile Exxon Mobil property on Route 31 east of Wayneport Road. Earlier, it was sold to Jindal films, but since a few years, the property has been vacant.
The property was up for sale with a whopping price tag of $2.5 million. It offers three large structures and about 100 acres of land.
When this was brought up on the agenda at the Macedon Board Meeting held on Thursday night, it came as an eye-opener to many.
In addition to that, Scott Allen, Macedon town engineer, confirmed that there is indeed an offer on the table. He said that it was surprising for the audience present, and there is excitement about the proposal.
What’s Next?
The present main structure will be transformed and renovated into classrooms, a cafeteria, and office space. The old factory will also be revamped. It will be converted into a performance art center, large gym, and training area for artists and musicians.
The project is still in the initial stages, but officials believe already that this will be a good thing for the community.
The town will be trying to decide if zoning for the site here fits the needs of the applicant.
