Cameron Diaz has retired from acting for almost two years, and the actress shared that she has no plans to return. The famous actress, model, and writer has had a prestigious career, with accolades that include four Golden Globe Award nominations, three Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and many more.
With a 24-year long career, she made her debut in acting opposite Jim Carrey in ‘The Mask.’ Since then, she has starred in many iconic and cult movies, from My Best Friend’s Wedding, There’s Something About Mary, Vanilla Sky, the Charlie’s Angels series, The Holiday, My Sister’s Keeper, and more.
After having been in the spotlight for so long, the stress shared she has no interest to come back to acting any time soon. She shared that she does not miss being the public eye and enjoys being away from attention. And to the heartbreak of many of her ardent fans, she revealed that she does not miss performing. Diaz elaborated, “I feel it’s OK for me to take time for myself now to reorganize and choose how I want to come [back] into the world. If I decide to.”
In retirement, the talented actress is enjoying her life and experiencing the other joys and passions that life has to offer, a fresh breath after the 20+ years of being a public figure. “Right now, I’m looking at the landscape of wellness and all that. But whatever I do, it has to be something I’m passionate about—something that just feels effortless.” She shared her inspiration in retirement comes from the amazing work that her friends are doing, be it her sister-in-law Nicole Richie with House of Harlow, or Gwyneth Paltrow with Goop.
With no one to answer to, and all the time free for her use, Diaz is living her life, for herself alone. Speaking of her age, the 46-year-old actress, revealed the 40s to be the best decade of life yet. At this age, one can be real and have the experience to make the necessary changes in their lives. Diaz elaborated, “You get to let go of giving a shit about anything. You’re done! Don’t care. It’s such a relief.” Also, women can finally learn to stop obsessing over how they look, and aging, having embraced that right now is the youngest they ever will be. Enjoying life every moment and as it comes, is the mantra that Diaz seems to have discovered.
As for what the future holds, the actress shared that there some things in motion, some plans in work, but nothing is confirmed. “I like creating, so I’m just looking for the project that makes the most sense for me now,” she shared. Right now, the actress is enjoying a quiet life with herself and her husband, Benji Madden.
