FX an American television is all set to release a new television show. The show will be titled Impeachment: American Crime Story. The show will be produced by former- White House intern, Monica Lewinsky. The show will be addressing the scandal of Bill Clinton with Monica Lewinsky. The show will be an adaptation of a book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal that Nearly Brought Down a President by Jeffrey Toobin.
The impeachment took place in 1994 when Paula Jones filed a lawsuit against Bill Clinton accusing him of sexual misconduct. Jones was the governor of Arkansas when he filed a lawsuit. Clinton was accused of having sexual relations with Lewinsky after Linda Tripp secretly recorded the conversation with Monica Lewinsky and passed it to Jones lawyers. An impeachment was followed in Senate where Clinton was acquitted in 1999.
This series will be the third season of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story. The show will focus less on Bill Clinton and his story, but more on the women that were involved in the scandal. Monica Lewinsky will be played by Beanie Feldstein, Linda Tripp by Sarah Paulson and Paula Jones by Annaleigh Ashford.
Murphy had told The Hollywood Reporter that he wasn’t interested in working on the season taking Bill Clinton’s impeachment as the theme. It was only when Lewinsky decided to produce the season, Murphy decided to do it. He felt that nobody other than Lewinsky could tell the story. Though she was hesitant and scared at first, a long dinner with Ryan Murphy, she decided to produce the show.
The previous season of America Crime Story was based on the death of Gianni Versace by Andrew Cunanan. The first season was based on events leading to and during O.J. Simpson trial.
The episodes of season three will be premiered in 2020 on September 27.
