On 7th August, Jolie filed a request for the removed of John W. Ouderkirk, who had overseen the couple’s marriage in 2014. Jolie’s claims were that this privately hired judge would be biased in his decisions regarding the divorce, after he had failed to disclose ‘business relationships’ he had with Pitt’s lawyers.

Objective Failed?

Meanwhile Brad is more worried about what effect all this will have on their children. His team accused Jolie of attempting a ‘trandparently tactical gambit’ in an attempt to delay the proceedings, and stated that their own children will be the ones who will be ‘hurt most’ by doing so.

In her filing, she stated,”[Ouderkirk] failed to make timely mandatory disclosures of ongoing business and professional relationships between himself.” She also mentioned that she was never given a chance to raise a concern or to object to the growing business relationships between Ouderkirk and counsel, which in turn earned him more income and potential for getting more work.

To this Brad’s team stated that Jolie had been fully aware of Ouderkirk’s “additional new engagements” with themselves, but never raised an objection at that time. Jolie’s lawyer Samantha Bley DeJean responded to this by saying that it was unfortunate for Brad’s legal team to intervene before the judge could say anything. She also added that this was their attempt to influence the judge in giving an answer.

The divorce battle is now almost in its fourth year.
