SYMPTOMS OF CHRONIC LYME DISEASE

The symptoms of CLD are mostly generic, and they are not fully specified. They include fatigue, no sleep, knee swelling, and shoulders swelling, vomiting blood, and more. Many persons who have suffered from these symptoms have been diagnosed and treated for Lyme disease in the past.

Chronic Lyme disease mostly comes into picture when a person who’s being treated with antibiotics medicine continues to face problems. This condition is referred to as post Lyme disease syndrome.

TREATMENT FOR CHRONIC LYME DISEASE

However, this disease can be cured if treated within time.  If a person is diagnosed early, it can be cured by giving antibiotics. If not treated, it can cause severe and threatening problems in the nervous system.

For the early stages of chronic Lyme disease, a short course of antibiotics such as amoxicillin is best for most of the victims. If the case is more complex, it can be treated with three to four weeks of antibiotic dosage.  According to the researchers of New England, there is approximately 10 to 20 percent of patients who still fall victim to symptoms like fatigue and swelling in the body even after complete and full treatment.

Doctors and are not able to identify why some people don’t recover fully. Some of them believe that the symptoms are caused due to persistent bacteria or infection that may not have been killed by the antibiotic medicine. Some believe that CLD destroys the immune system.  The damaged immune system results in the spread of infection or bacteria even after proper treatment.

However, experts think that the symptoms last long up-to six months. It is till now not known why only some person has to suffer from the symptoms while others don’t. It is suggested that they should be treated individually on the basis of their medical background.
