The project will be helmed by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure director Naokatsu Tsuda
CloverWorks studio announced on Sunday that they are currently producing a new original television anime series called Tokyo 24-ku (Tokyo Twenty Fourth Ward). The anime will debut in 2022.
The project will be directed by Naokatsu Tsuda, who directed the first four JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime seasons. Tsuda also served as the chief director for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. The anime will be written and overseen by Vio Shimokura of Nitroplus. Character designing will be done by FiFs (duo comprising Shuji Sogabe and Kanako Nono) and design adaptation will be done by Takahiro Kishida (Durarara, Haikyuu). Music will be composed by Hideyuki Fukasawa (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Flowers of Evil).

As seen in the order above, the cast includes: Yuma Uchida as Ran Akagi, Kaito Ishikawa as Koki Suido, and Junya Enoki as Shuta Aoi. We are yet to receive the first trailer and see the supporting characters and voice actors.
The story takes place on an artificial floating island in Tokyo Bay, called Kyokutō Hōreigai Tokubetsu Chiku (Far East Special District Outside of the Law). It was given the nickname, 24th Ward. Three childhood friends born and raised on the island, Ran, Koki, and Shuta, are the protagonists. The three have different personalities, hobbies, and social standings, but are always seen together. However, a certain incident causes their relationships to undergo a dramatic change.

One year after the incident, the three happen to meet again. To their surprise, their phones start ringing at the same time. The call was from a friend who they thought had died. The voice urged them to “choose the future.” Each of the trio chooses a way they find best to protect the future of everyone in the 24th Ward.
