The Discontinued Halo Series
As we all know Microsoft and 343 Industries are such a hit collaboration which had given us many amazing games. Namely HALO Series but unfortunately some halo games are shutting next week
- Halo: Combat Evolved,
- Halo 3,
- Halo wars,
- Halo 3: ODST,
- Halo: Reach,
- Halo 4,
- Halo: Spartan Assault.
There will be some modes available like the single-player and split-screen campaign (if supported) and every Halo game will still be available on Xbox 360.
Moreover, online squads will still be available in every game except for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition. The feature ‘Matchmaking’ will still be available in Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo Wars, and you’ll also be able to access player’s customization and your service record in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST. A word of advice, Be sure to check which services are available before you start playing.
Effects of Shutting Down
We have to agree that this is indeed a heart-crushing situation. But along with the shutting down, it also affects players on current hardware. The players who passed on The Master Chief Collection and those who want to continue to play the 360 Halo games on the Xbox may lose online functionality when the servers shut down on the 13th. But the other games will still be beholden to the 360’s servers for online multiplayer. (which is a relief by the way).
The shutting of the 360 servers affects more than just multiplayer. Some achievements will no longer be available after the shutdown(That hits hard). Which includes many achievements that require online matchmaking and challenges. Legacy Avatar Awards provide your Xbox with a touch of glamour and elegance with cosmetics. When a new achievement is unlocked they will also cease to exist. If you’ve always wanted the Halo 3: ODST Armor for your avatar, time is running out to unlock the Good Samaritan achievement on the 360( We have to Hurry up!).
While the Halo FPS games are going to lose their magic like some online features, the two spin-offs in other genres are not going to. Spartan Assault and Halo wars lovers will continue to enjoy matchmaking on the 360 and through backward compatibility. one of the great news for Halo Wars fans who never used up the enhanced Definitive Edition for Xbox One or PC and still enjoy their fill in the first Halo RTS.
