Is there a new place going to be marked on the map after a singer’s name? Well, yes it is happening as the city of Senegal is set to be named after the iconic singer, Akon.
The American singer creates his own city, “The Akon City”
The American singer will soon be ruling over the city. The city of Senegal will now be referred to as the Akon City as per the sources. According to the latest tweet by the celeb, it has been finalized that the agreement for the new city will be under his name. He wrote in his tweet, “Looking forward to hosting you there in the future”. This is something he had never anticipated in his life.
The city of Senegal has been gifted to the artist by the president of Senegal, Macky Sall. Akon had already planned for the city after being offered this. The all-new Akon City would be built on 2000 acre land and would have its own cryptocurrency. Akon, who already has a Senegalese descent, announced his plans for the futuristic Crypto City. The new currency will be regarded as AKoin and it would be digital.
The official website for the city said that at the time, it would be a five-minute drive from the West African state’s new international airport. Akon said that he is eager to make the biggest impact in Africa. As per the city’s official website, Akon was born in Senegal before he moved to Union City, New Jersey at the age of just 7.
He got a lot of recognition and fame through his loved music like Locked Up, Lonely, Oh Africa. He was also nominated for one of the prestigious awards- the Grammys. Now he has shifted his career more towards being a businessman than a musician. He is willing to make Africa as the United States of Africa.
