Despite the possibility of rain, the race was dry but at the end with 5 laps remaining the rain started to pour and all the drivers pitted for the change of tires. Both Hamilton and Norris denied the calls to the pit stop and continued the race. But At the end of 3 laps, Hamilton took the tyre change emerging behind Norris. But Norris denied the calls, the gap started to close between them. And on the penultimate lap, Norris slipped off in the corner which cost him his maiden win.
