Even Popularity Could Not Help Keanu Reeves In China
Keanu Reeves is a Canadian actor. In his initial days he did theatre and acting in television films before he made his film debut in Youngblood . He had also directed the film Man of Tai Chi and been a part of a band Dogstar . He is one of the most humble and nicest guy in the industry but even after his big popularity he could not prevent The Matrix Resurrection from bombing in China.
The Matrix Resurrection Is Boycotted
His recently released sci-fi movies had responses but not enough to make the film profitable , he came under fire in China after his name was announced for the upcoming Tibet House U.S benefit concert.
According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency a movement of boycotting Matrix Resurrection is being passed by the Chinese Nationalists owing to Keanu’s support to Tibet which is controlled by PRC (People’s Republic of China).
The Matrix Resurrection has earned a gross of $148.3 million which is quite underwhelming because of being boycotted.
Tibet House US Is Reason For Boycotting Reeves
The Tibet House U.S is a part of international coalition of Tibet Focused Organisation. It was formed after the urge by Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso who were forced to leave the country after the annexation of Tibet by PRC. They have been the reason for the death of millions of Tibetan and cracking down their culture.
It is only known that Keanu is listed as a performer in the event happening in 3rd March including Jason Isbell, Iggy pop and Petty Smith.
The concert is going to be held virtually because of the COVID-19. The proceeds from the event will be handed over to Tibet House U.S. It is for the survival of the culture of Tibet, which is under threat at the point.
Keanu Reeves will appear at a benefit concert for Tibet House US, a nonprofit organization founded at the request of the Dalai Lama. Reeves is part Chinese and a Hollywood heartthrob, but that isn’t protecting him from the ire of Chinese nationalists. https://t.co/FYibj8QGWT
