Without a doubt, Kanye West is the current king of controversy, always creating headlines, and businesses are severing their relationships with him one by one as a result of his escapades.
Companies that have severed relations as a result of Kanye’s controversy
Kanye West recently made waves for his contentious assertion that George Floyd died in 2020 due to a fentanyl overdose rather than the use of force by Minneapolis police.
He gained notoriety when he hosted a show featuring “White Lives Matter” early on in Paris Fashion Week, turning the dispute into a major one by declaring that Black Lives Matter is a fraud. Then, he began to intimidate his business partners and detractors on Twitter and Instagram, which exacerbated the situation. These reasons led to his exclusion from both of these social media sites, which prompted Adidas to declare their connection with Ye as “under review.”
The most recent company to sever relations with Kanye is Balenciaga. Despite his friendship with Demna Gvasalia, the director of Balenciaga, and after opening for Balenciaga’s fashion week, the firm recently declared that they are no longer working with Kanye on any future projects as a result of his recent issues and disrespectful statements.
Following the news concerning Balenciaga, Page Six said that Vogue had also opted to break connections with Ye. As a result of his anti-Semitic remarks about Vogue editor Gabriella Johnson, Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief, had informed the team that she was no longer eager to work with Ye.
After Kanye West’s anti-semitic remarks, CAA also stopped representing Ye, and Variety noted that even MRC, the television production company that had finished a documentary about Ye, put the documentary on hold.
If reports are to be believed, his bipolar condition, which was diagnosed in 2016, is the primary cause of his peculiar and controversial behaviour, although it is still unclear whether or not this is the tipping point.
