The Black Keys and The Breeders are also part of the Ohio-focused benefit concert roster.
At the all-star VetsAid 2022 concert, which will have an Ohio theme, Joe Walsh’s James Gang will get together for “one last ride” with Dave Grohl’s assistance. The gig, scheduled for November 13 at Columbus’ Nationwide Arena, will also feature performances by Nine Inch Nails, the Breeders, and the Black Keys.
The Black Keys, The Breeders, and Nine Inch Nails complete the VetsAid 2022 program. Walsh organized the event to generate money for his 501(c)3 non-profit national veterans charity, VetsAid.
Walsh, Jimmy Fox, and Dale Peters, who make up James Gang, will perform as a unit for the last time, or “One Last Ride.” Drew Carey from Cleveland will serve as the event’s host, and all of the performers have close ties to Ohio.
At the sixth annual VetsAid concert, which Walsh started in 2017 to raise money for veterans’ service charities, the James Gang trio of drummer Jim Fox, bassist Dale Peters, and vocalist Joe Walsh will perform together for the first time in over 15 years. This lineup is responsible for the hits “Funk #49” and “Walk Away.”
With the Cleveland-based James Gang, the Dayton-based Breeders, the Cleveland-based Nine Inch Nails, the Akron-based Black Keys, and the Warren, Ohio-born Grohl, this year’s VetsAid is a celebration of Ohio rock.
Drew Carey, a native of Cleveland, will also serve as the program’s third host.
In a statement, Walsh stated, “It all began in Ohio.” My musical adventure began when I picked up my first guitar as a young child in Columbus. It led me to Kent State, Cleveland, and eventually the entire world. Now, I have an extraordinary luxury and humble opportunity to perform onstage among my former James Gang bandmates as well as this incredible lineup of Ohio rock giants, including Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, the Black Keys, the Breeders, and Dave Grohl. I have faith in Ohio, and I am eager to celebrate our musical heritage and pay tribute to our heroes with VetsAid 2022.
On Friday, August 5, the general public can purchase tickets for the performance by the “last” James Gang at VetsAid 2022.
