According to Irv Gotti, the inspiration for Ashanti’s 2002 smash song “Happy” struck immediately after the couple had sex.
The creator of Murder Inc. was asked if his brief purported romance with Ashanti had had an impact on business in a clip from his and Ja Rule’s recently-released Drink Champs interview.
Irv began by saying, “It helped her,” before going on to describe how “Happy” came to be. We just finished sharing a bed, or something like that, and I’m taking a shower. You know, an n-gga be creative after [sex], so I’m in the shower. In the shower, I consider the entire track.
As soon as he finished his shower, Chink Santana, the track’s producer, and Gotti went to the studio to start working on it.
“All right, now it’s your turn to write. Irv said, “Yo, I want the shit to be a feel-good tune, like summertime. “That record was made possible by our energy,” the speaker said.
Irv said, “Not anymore,” when N.O.R.E asked Gotti if he “missed that enthusiasm a little bit.”
When Murder Inc. was at its peak in the early 2000s, there were rumors that Irv Gotti and Ashanti were more than just friends. However, not long after the group’s meteoric rise to stardom, the “Foolish” singer started dating Nelly.
Irv and Ja’s Drink Champs interview with the renowned hip-hop executive revealed that while he was “in love” with the singer, he learnt about Ashanti and Nelly’s romance while watching a basketball game on TV.
relevant news Irv Gotti claims that on June 28, 2022, he knew that Jay-Z, DMX, and Ja Rule were “going to rule the world.”
He thought about his suspected liaison with his former signee and remarked, “I can get past you wanting to be with Nelly. “Listen, any male will agree that it hurts when the girl they are in love with is dating this n-gga at the moment it occurs.
“Want to know how I learned? God wanted me to learn this, as I now know. I had gone home. NBA package; I enjoy sports viewing. Oh my God, what’s all the hubbub in the stadium about? “We just learned the cause of the commotion: Nelly and Ashanti have entered.”
In their Drink Champs interview, Gotti and Ja also mentioned that they thought Diddy’s Bad Boy Records was Murder Inc.’s only encounter with the Verzuz ring.
