Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ is going to be Darker and Edgier than its Predecessors

We know how edgy Batman is, and it’s a good thing that director Matt Reeves shares that edginess.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader is one of the movies that has suspended production due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie was set to be released in July 2021, but that has been pushed to October. But since it’s Batman, the excitement around the movie hasn’t died down.

Apart from knowing that the movie will be a detective story, we don’t know anything else in particular, but we are slowly getting to know the cast members. It will star Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Selena Kyle, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrel as Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin.

If you have been a follower of Matt Reeves’ works, you will be able to understand the kind of dark nature that the director brings to his movies. Back in 2010, he wrote and directed the horror movie Let Me In, and later directed the hit Planet of the Apes trilogy, all of which were brilliant in their storytelling and darkness.

And for The Batman, he’s going to interpret Jeph Loeb and artist Tim Sale’s The Long Halloween. The story is set in a noir fashion, which focuses more on why Batman is known as ‘The World’s Greatest Detective’ aside from being a crime fighter. The story focuses on Batman trying to find a murdering vigilante known as the Holiday Killer. It also shows the transition of Harvey Dent into Two-Face. It was one of the best stories from DC Comics, and having Reeves adapt parts from it is something really exciting.

We can also expect a whole roster of villains and how each one poses as a roadblock in Batman’s path while he follows clues around Gotham City.
