John Stahl Passed Away

Game of Thrones star John Stahl passed away recently, at 68. He played the role of Rickard Karstark in the HBO’s popular fantasy show. The Scottish actor died on March 2nd 2022. His agent Amanda Fitzalan described him as an actor with remarkable skill and a “stalwart of Scottish theatre”. The actor appeared in two series, (second and third) of the hit HBO show. In addition to that he is also famous for playing Inverdarroch in the soap opera “Take The High Road”. He was a regular at the long running series between 1982 and 2003.

Apart from being a screen actor, Stahl was also a successful theatre actor. He studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. A lot of Stahl’s co- workers expressed their grief after the news broke out.

Tributes pour in

His fellow actor from Take The High Road, Derek Lord took to twitter to express himself. He shared a small anecdote, saying that Stahl was upset when someone in production dropped the name Inverdarroch and instead used Tom Kerr. Peter May, a screenwriter, who worked with him on High Rode said that he was extremely sad to hear the news. theatre director David Greig also praised the actor’s skills and said that the Scottish theater will miss him deeply.

Survived By Wife Jane Paton

Stahl recently got married to Jane Paton. His fellow friends including May were invited to their online wedding as well. Ian Rankin also shared his sadness, saying that he wished to work with Stahl again. The National Theatre of Scotland also expressed grief by sharing a picture of Stahl with a caption that said they were fortunate to work with him.

The actor will most certainly be missed by both his peers and his fans. May he rest in peace.
